Thanks to
everyone who came out to our Annual Winterfest. This annual winter
activity, co- sponsored by CCRA, is always a fun outing for the whole
family. We hope you enjoyed it. Thanks to the committee for
another great job in organizing this community event.
On Friday
February 13th from 12-2 p.m. there will be a free community
skate at Heron Park Arena. This happens to be a Professional
Development Day for our local schools. This event, sponsored by 43
Division and the Community Policing Liaison Committee (CPLC), is open to
everyone in our community. CCRA’S representative on the CPLC,
Marilyn Hodge has provided details of this event elsewhere in this
newsletter.
This year
marks the 60th anniversary of CCRA. To mark this
milestone we have decided to offer a scholarship to any student living in
our community who will be graduating from high school and pursuing a post
secondary education. The scholarship is in honour of our first
president and one of the founding members of CCRA, William Dempsey who
passed away last year. Details about the scholarship and application
can be obtained from our web site
www.centennialcra.com
On January
20th a second public meeting regarding Toronto Hydro’s
proposed Windfarm in Lake Ontario was held at Laurier Collegiate. I
hope to have a report in our next newsletter concerning the outcome of
that meeting.
On March
28th we will be holding a special evening at West Rouge
Community Centre to celebrate our 60th anniversary.
Activities Chair Heather Lemieux is working hard with members of the
executive to plan an evening of fun and entertainment to celebrate this
anniversary. Further details of this evening, ticket purchases etc.
are contained elsewhere in this newsletter.
