President’s Message
Thanks to everyone who came out to our 16th Winterfest. This annual
winter activity, co- sponsored by CCRA, is always a fun outing for the
whole family. A lot of people are involved in organizing Winterfest as
this is one of the major community events of the year. Thanks to the
committee for another great job.
We
continue to be in touch with the city planner regarding the Highland
Creek Area Study. While this study focuses on Highland Creek parts of
it impact our community, particularly the Lawson Rd overpass area.
Should this plan be implemented the resulting increase in density will
impact traffic patterns in our community. We have asked the planner to
hold a meeting for our community so we have a chance to review and
comment on the plan. We will let you know when such a meeting is
scheduled. For those with Internet you can access the study by going to

A
reminder to all secondary students, we are offering a scholarship to any
student living within our community who will be graduating from high
school this year, and will be pursuing a post secondary education. The
scholarship is in honour of William Dempsey, one of the founding members
of CCRA and its first president. The deadline for applications is 9:30
p.m. April 24th 2012. Details about the scholarship and
application form can be obtained from our web site

On
March 31th we will be holding a social evening at the
West Rouge Community Centre.. Activities Chair Heather Lemieux is
working with members of the executive to plan an evening that will
likely focus on wine tasting followed by a dance. Watch for more
details in our March newsletter.
