Thanks
to everyone who came out to our Annual Winterfest. This annual winter
activity, co- sponsored by CCRA, is always a fun outing for the whole
family. We hope you enjoyed this year’s added feature, our Olympic
torch bearers. A lot of people are involved in organizing Winterfest
and this is one of the major community events of the year. Thanks to
the committee for another great job.
Work is
still proceeding on construction of Phase 2 of the Waterfront Trail.

It is
with sadness that I note the passing of long time active resident of our
community, Mary Miller. Mary was an invaluable source of local
history. I have written a separate article about Mary that is found on
pages 14 and 15.
A
reminder to all graduating secondary students living in our community,
that we are offering a scholarship to any student living in our
community who will be graduating from high school and pursuing a post
secondary education. The scholarship is in
honour
of Bill Dempsey, our first president and one of the founding members of
the CCRA. The deadline for applications is 9:30 p.m. April 26th
2010. Details about the scholarship and application form can be
obtained from our web site
www.centennialcra.com
On
March 27th we will be holding a beer tasting evening at
the West Rouge Community Centre. Activities Chair, Heather Lemieux, is
working hard with members of the Executive to plan an evening of fun and
entertainment. This is an opportunity to come out and try some of the
lesser known beers under the guidance of a beer tasting expert. There
will be wine available for those whose beverage of preference is wine.
Further details of this evening, ticket purchases etc. are contained
elsewhere in this newsletter.
