On Thursday October 19th we will be holding our Annual General Meeting. Last year due to a lack of attendance, we were unable to hold elections as we did not have a quorum. I sincerely hope this does not occur this year.
When there are no controversial issues in a community it is easy to sit back and rely on others to get involved. However there continues to be important issues that require community input. Community events that are held throughout the year are the result of people devoting time to make them happen. We need your attendance at this meeting to hear your input on community issues that matter to you. Please plan to attend, give us your views, opinions and get involved.
I hope many of you were able to make it to the opening of the Waterfront Trail on September 24th. This was truly a memorable day for this community. The need for this trail was identified by this association about 50 years ago. The working committee on which I was CCRA’s representative has been meeting for about the last 10 years to ensure that this dream became a reality. It is now possible to go in a trail loop from Colonel Danforth/Beechgrove to Port Union Rd via the waterfront. Work on the funding approval for Phase 2 of the trail from the GO station to the Rouge River is underway.
November 13th is Election Day for municipal councillors and school trustees. There will be an All Candidates meeting on Friday November 3rd at the West Rouge Community Centre. Watch the area bulletin boards for further details.
Hope to see you at our Annual General Meeting
