On Thursday October 22nd
we will be holding our Annual General Meeting. When there are no
controversial issues in a community, it is easy to sit back and rely on
others to get involved. However, there continues to be important
issues that require community input. Community events that are held
throughout the year are the result of people devoting time to make them
happen. We need your attendance at this meeting to hear your input
on community issues that matter to you. Please plan to attend; give
us your views, opinions and get involved. Consider joining the
executive, it’s your community.
Annual General Meeting
7:30 p.m. Thursday
October 22nd, 2009
Port Union Recreation
Centre
During the week of September
21-26 a number of events were held to mark the 25th anniversary
of the Port Union Recreation. Centre, The Port Union Seniors, The Port
Union Library and the 60th anniversary of the CCRA.
Marking a 60th anniversary is a significant milestone for any
community organization. Over those 60 years a lot has happened in
our community. It has changed from a
primarily rural area within
the Township of Scarborough to being a part of the City of Toronto.
Some of the major achievements brought about by the efforts of the CCRA
over the past 60 years include the creation of Adam’s Park, the
residential developments in our community, the building of the Port Union
Recreation Centre, the building of the Port Union Waterfront Trail, the
preservation of Highland Creek, Centennial Creek and Adams Creek.
There have also been many
community activities and events held over the past 60 years that have been
initiated or sponsored by CCRA. All of this would not have been
possible without the dedication and devotion of the many volunteers who
have served on the executive over the past 60 years. Without them
many of the items mentioned above would not have taken place.
Remember to mark October 22nd
on your calendar and plan to attend our Annual General Meeting and
consider serving on the executive.
