As we
approach the final days of another year it is nice to pause and reflect on
some of the events held in our community over the past year. One
significant event was the celebration of our 60th anniversary.
In March and again in September events were held to mark this major
milestone in our community.
On
October 28th I attended a meeting to discuss next year’s
schedule of community events. Also attending the meeting were
representatives from the City of Toronto, West Rouge Sports and Recreation
Association, West Rouge Community Association, as well as the Port Union
Seniors. The list of next year’s community events and activities is
included in the calendar on page 30. Many of these events held
in our community are the result of volunteers within our community coming
forward to assist in making them happen.
If anyone
is interested in volunteering to help out with any of the upcoming events
for next year please do not hesitate to get in touch with either the Port
Union Recreation Centre or the West Rouge Recreation Centre or anyone on
the Executive.
Toronto
Hydro Energy Services has been given approval to install an anemometer in
Lake Ontario west of East Point Park. The anemometer readings will
be reviewed after 2 years to help determine the viability of installing up
to 60 wind turbines in Lake Ontario. Should Toronto Hydro
Energy Services decide to proceed with the installation, the proposal
would be subject to a full environmental review before being allowed to
proceed.
On
October 22nd we held our Annual General Meeting and election of
