CCRA Vice President Jeff Forsyth: October 2003
Summer 2003 is quickly becoming a passing memory and thoughts are turning to fall and winter activities. During the summer a number of activities took place in our community. Heritage Day was held on June 14th. This is a great annual event in our community and the CCRA plays an integral role in the success of this festival. Summer Concert Series

CCRA's Annual General Meeting
Once again the CCRA will be appearing before the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) for matters related to the development of the old Manson plant property. The hearing is to be held on Wednesday September 10th at 10:00 a.m. at the Ontario Municipal Board Office 655 Bay St. 16th Floor Toronto. Plan to attend and see how decisions that affect our community are made by this provincially appointed body. This hearing is a continuation of a hearing held in early 1999 to deal with the proposed plan of subdivision for the Manson site. An Interim Decision from this hearing was rendered in April 1999. Phase II of the hearing, dealing with environmental issues, was started in April 2001 but was adjourned pending the decommissioning of the site. The developer of this property, Yellow Moon, carried out the decommissioning and the Ministry of the Environment audited the site following the decommissioning. To date we have not seen the results of the audit. Nevertheless we will be appearing before the board to represent our community. The decision of the OMB will be final and cannot be appealed.
