CCRA President Jeff Forsyth: April 2004
Message from Jeff ForsythPresident's MessageThis year Earth Day will be celebrated in our community on Saturday April 24th, 2004. The day’s activities will be headquartered out of the Port Union Rec. Center. Plan to participate and make a difference to our community’s environment Additional details about Earth Day activities can be found elsewhere in the newsletter. It is with regret that I announce that Joan Gruchy will be moving out of our community at the end of this month and will no longer be on the executive. Over the past few years Joan has been our activities chair and has been instrumental in organizing a great number of successful community activities such as Winterfest, 50’s Dance, and the Summer Concert Series to name just a few. On behalf of the association and community, thanks Joan for a truly outstanding contribution, and best wishes in your new community. We continue to read reports in the press about the lack of a funding commitment from the federal government towards the waterfront redevelopment. Despite the lack of this funding we hope the work on the development of the waterfront and Village Common continues. One issue that needs to be addressed is the lack of provisions for parking. The CCRA has written to Councillor Cowbourne expressing our concern about this issue. Jeff Forsyth
