Towards the end of
last year the reconstruction work at the junction of Kingston Road
(Hwy.2) and Port Union Road/Sheppard Ave. was completed. The work
generally consisted of the installation of left turn lanes to Port Union
Road from Hwy 2 west bound, a right turn lane to Port Union Road
from Hwy 2 east bound, and a right
turn lane to Hwy 2
from Port Union
Road north bound.
Immediately following
installation of the traffic signals it was found that the time interval
for traffic turning from the two new lanes to Port Union Road south was
very short, allowing at best, just a couple of cars to proceed. This
timing has subsequently been rectified, and now appears to adequately
accommodate traffic demands from Hwy 2, turning south to Port Union Road.
